The task was to develop a visual identity for the £27 million Wolverhampton Green Innovation Corridor - aimed at creating an innovation district focused on green construction, engineering, and digital technologies.
The challenge was to create a cohesive and contemporary visual identity that represents green innovation and sustainable futures but also appeals to the target audience - business investors and partners.
This task was a fantastic opportunity for a chance of having my design selected and be offered freelance work. While my design has not been selected, it has been shortlisted and considered.
This project challenged me to design out of my comfort zone by working for a very formal client. Finding the right tone of voice and image was important, so I focused my research on the materials and images provided.
After analysing an image of a map, I noticed the way locations are positioned; once connected, they create a constellation. I connected my logo to the stars, as stars were used as a tool and as a guide towards new paths, discoveries, and exciting new opportunities - just like the GIC project would do - create new paths towards a better future, exciting new innovations in green technologies, as well as create new opportunities for the community.
